Farmers Market Shopper Basket

This weekend is full of a flea and farmer's markets all over Los Angeles. They're some of my all-time favorite things to do. But I always think to myself once I'm there, "I really need to get something cute to carry all of my stuff in!" So I think I might snag one of THESE little beauties found over at one of my new favorite online shops Pretty Mommy! They're hand-made in Ghana, super durable, and even with a ton of wear- you can easily reshape the basket by quickly submerging in water! Can't wait to finally be prepared for my weekend shopping adventures!

Sally England: Modern Macramé

I have a deep appreciation for all things vintage. Doilies, knobs, buttons and lace, these are a few of my favorite things! But, not everyone is as excited about raiding Grandma's attic as I am. That said, I realize how hard pressed I may be to convince some folks that vintage macramé is actually pretty cool. However, I can confidently share Sally England's work, and announce from the mountain tops that this textile is making a comeback!! Seriously! Look at how she has used macramé to create a room-dividers, headboards, suspended art, plant-hangers and even lampshades! It's absolutely beautiful and even contemporary looking. Vintage-inspired, More Design Please approved!

I Loom You

These images from New Friends take me back to 3rd grade- when I had an awesomely bohemian-hippie arts and crafts teacher who taught me how to use a loom. It's a shame I've forgotten how to do it. Making little pieces like this would be a really nice thing to hang up on a wall or give as gifts- perhaps as coasters, placements or pretty little pot holders. So if you're interested in learning how to do this yourself here's a link from my favorite youtube channel Threadbangers. It has the step-by-step instructions- making me feel a bit less guilty about forgetting how to do it myself ;)
