Retro Italian Collection by Lazzari

It may be the charming retro quality of these photos, the effortless styling inspired by the 60's, the darling Italian model or perhaps it's the FABULOUS clothing... but everything about these photos from Lazzari's 2012 Spring/Summer collection make me want to raid this girl's closet! I love it all (especially that yellow pea coat!)

Paint Over Paintings

The incredibly talented interior stylist, Jenny, of The Little Green Notebook, picked up a mid-century abstract oil painting at a flea market, and used her own personal touch to bring it to life. She realized that the painting's colors were a bit more muted than she intended for the vibrant space it was to placed in. So to make the piece work, she painted directly on top of it! It's such a simple and inexpensive way to give a dated piece of art a modern new life! And it's really hard to go wrong when it's an abstract! All of her interiors are a feast for the eyes, but it's little hand-crafted treasures like this that make them really come to life. Beautiful work Jenny!

Ginny & Jude Timeless Fashion

I'm absolutely enamored with the Ginny & Jude Collection by Sydney designer Rabia Lockwood. I can honestly picture myself wearing evey single one of these pieces. Rabia says, "[Her] aim is to create statement pieces for the perennially overdressed... [The] distinctly unique fashion accessories are constructed from a carefully selected combination of new and vintage materials. Each handcrafted piece is imbued with a rich world history; millinery trim from early 1900s Europe, vintage glass and Bakelite buttons, French mohair, knitted ties from 1960s England and monocles originally used in 1800s America – to name a few. The results are delightfully wearable pieces of art."

Visit her online etsy shop HERE... before I buy it all up myself ;)

Re-inventing the Brooch

Don't you just love discovering ways to re-use items that have been long-forgotten about? I'm thinking about my vintage brooches! I know I have a few lying around that I never use (not too many outfits call for a fancy brooch, you know?) But see how beautiful (and expensive) they look when put on top of a napkin at a dinner table? Or what about using it to finish off a wrapped gift? Take a look at these images from Glitter Guide to discover more inspiring ideas!

Industrial Lighting for the Home

Let me introduce you to my current obsession- antique light fixtures in modern spaces. I just LOVE how they come to life when taken from their pre-existing environments and are transplanted into a fresh new scenery. Trainspotters Lighting and Salvage is a store based out of the UK that does exactly that. Their catalog of vintage light fixtures adorn everything from upscale restaurants and boutiques to little country homes. Take a look...

Summertime Hair Wraps

I really am the queen of bad hair days. Realllly bad ones. I have very fine & wavy hair which is a terrible combination when you wake up and want to do something quick and easy- to cover up what the untamable beast, that is the pillow, has done to you. I will jump on any new idea that will help me cover it up: hats, scarves, helmets, you name it... So when I saw this lovely blog of beautiful fashionista Keiko Lynn, I knew I had to share some of her hair-wrapping tricks that I hope will get you as excited as it did for me. Her outfits are also quite adorable if you're looking for a little bit of style-inspiration. But today I want to focus on these beautiful scarves she uses to wrap around her pulled up hair. SO cute and stylish- and did I mention- perfect for a bad hair day!? LOVE.

Before Photoshop: Pin-Up Girls

Aren't these before and after pin-up photos absolutely fascinating? Interesting how things haven't changed much in society- we'll always have the people in ads enhanced through the eyes of a designer. The only technical change is the use photoshop instead of illustration. And, of course, the overall idea of beauty has changed a bit too. I will admit, it's refreshing see women with real shape modeling for these shoots. They were obviously enhanced as well, but all for the sake of "fantasy"... at least they weren't expected to look like that in real life (unlike our models now who look even thinner in real life than they do in their photos!) Check out more before and after pin-up photos HERE. So cool.
