Unveiling the Creative Process

A little insight into the designer's process from Oneighty Creative:

"Lets face it, in our industry we’re often faced with puzzled looks across the meeting room table of clients’ trying to completely understand the process of building a brand and where the effort goes.

We all thought enough was enough, as over the last 9 years we’ve always had a transparent, open door approach to our skills and process but this time wanted to really bring it home and spell it out.

Well, our Bex rose to the challenge and visualised a physical timeline of our brand process which creates a sort of mad hatter’s tea party feel, creating order out of chaos. With the help of our photographer (www.adrianray.co.uk) the vision became a reality..."

Sundown at the Oasis

This dreamy shoot from Rue makes me wish I had my own Oasis to escape to. The warm desert tones remind me that Summer is slipping away, which is quite apparent today in Los Angeles. As I'm looking outside my office window, rain is POURING down!

Spring Table Round-Up

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter! It was so wonderful enjoying the outdoors, thanks to the beautiful weather in Los Angeles this weekend. Aside from the little sunburn I got (darn this Irish complexion,) it was such an inspiring time! I just loved taking in all the colors of Spring. That said, I've been thinking of putting together a little Spring-palette inspired gathering. The colors are wonderful to work with and have this great uplifting effect. Who's spirit isn't lifted when looking at a table covered in bright yellow, pink and green goodies? Below is a collection of table settings that have caught my eye for inspiration! Click on each image for further details of the event. VIA amyatlas

Personalized Tabletop

Designer Justina Blakeney has come up with a wonderful way to add personalized accents to a holiday tabletop. Using jars and bottles of various shapes and sizes, take a sharpie and hand draw simple designs onto natural colored packing tape. I especially love the effect it has on the wine bottle. This could be a beautiful custom place setting & take-home gift for your guests! I'm not convinced my finished pieces would look quite as sharp as hers, as I admittedly have pretty dreadful hand writing. So I would have to practice my designs on scrap paper before diving into decorating. But I really love the look of these pieces, so I'm determined to use this diy soon! I encourage you to check out the rest of her blog as well- lots of fun crafty ideas!

Linger A Little Longer

A wonderful long holiday weekend always has me sooo looking forward to the hectic work week ahead. Something about this thermo-sensitive table design by Jay Watson captures the essence my current office- which seemed to be frozen in time, waiting for my frantic return. To put things into perspective, I haven't left this chair for 6 hours... I'm starting to wonder if I've left an imprint on this cushion! Ay yay yay! Welcome back everyone :)

DIY Bottle Centerpieces

Funny how something as simple as a bottle can inspire a post here on MDP. I'm especially fond of the yarn-wrapped beer bottles... so cute! I was thinking that a little orange and gray would look wonderful for Halloween! The link to that particular DIY will only take you to the image source- but I'm sure all you need is a glue gun, bottle and yarn. Looks easy enough ;)
