Designer House Tour : Emily Henson

Sometimes I get this little itch when I walk into my house and I think to myself- ugh I'm bored of this room! What can I dooo? Shortly thereafter my first stop on the web is the site Apartment Therapy. It's an ongoing catalogue of the personal spaces of creative decor enthusiasts alike. The cool part is, they feature homes in LA so you may recognize a few of your neighbors on there! Although this particular home we'll be touring today isn't in my neighborhood (I wish- it's in Highland Park) I absolutely love everything about it. Emily Henson's 702 sq ft. home is cozy and absolutely adorable... Prepare to fall in love...

I just love how all of her little personal treasures come together in ths kitchen. Isn't that lamp so cool? Looks like some pictures strung all around the fixture to create a focal point for the space... P.S. I totally have a chalkboard in my room- but I'm tempted to put one in my kitchen now too- you get so much use out of it! Also love how she rehupolstered all the seating- gives these old items a fresh new look.

Wonderful how she makes use of every little bit of wall space in her home. A shelf with hooks is just as good as any coat closet! The light drapes and walls also make the space feel much more open- even if there are shelves and pictures everywhere.

Don't you love her office space? I've never seen such pretty clutter :)

Lucky kid...

That green right there... yeah, that bathtub green, is my second favorite color. I have never seen it not match with any other color you pair with it. Even hot pink- as you can see in this space. (All pictures from Apartment Therapy.)

Valentines Party Excuse

As you all know, Valentines Day is coming... Wait! Before you roll your eyes at me for wasting time on an over-commercialized corporate pay-out... read on...

Whatever your thoughts are on this slightly obnoxious cheese-fest of a day, it's still a good excuse to get together with people you care about. Love is worthy of celebration, even if its only for your cats. But I'm going to assume you have some friends too... I'm all about positivity- and if you can dedicate a day to it, what's the harm? Perhaps you too can plan to get together with loved ones- even if it's just to complain about how silly the day is- just share it with people you care about. This year I'm helping my friends plan a Valentines party at their place and I'm not gonna lie- I'm pretty excited. Any excuse to decorate is a good excuse. I've been collecting images from all over to get inspired for their little shindig... And plan on getting creative enough to not have to give big corporate America my hard earned cash- because us crafty people get a kick out of throwing parties without throwing away our money on stuff we can make ourselves! Oh yaaaa.

DIY : Paper Pumpkins

Need a little decorative flair or perhaps a table centerpiece this holiday season? Look no further!! This DIY project from Whipperberry is perfect! It's great for those of us who are trying to keep a budget.... as we all know, holiday spending can add up so its nice to not have to spend moolah on something that can be done at home! This paper pumpkin project is simple to do and can be customized to match your home decor according to what paper colors you use. I'm thinking of making little teal pumkins that would work nicely as transition decor for the winter/ Christmas season...
