I was introduced to Laura Collins collage work today, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Her use of nostalgic imagery combined with feminine themes make these the perfect pieces to showcase before Mother's Day... Absolutely stunning work!

Painted Wall Frames

So excited to try this DIY project I found over at the awesomely inspirational blog for all things crafty- JK JK. We all have faced the challenge of a boring blank wall in need of art. So here's a wonderful solution (especially helpful for those of us on a budget!) Directions found below via eighteen25.

DIY Painted Wall Frames

Supplies:
Paint, Brushes, Items to trace

Directions:
1.  Find a blank wall.
2.  Gather a few good shapes to trace onto your wall (like boxes or books.)  These traced shapes will be your frames.
3.  Use a pencil and start tracing shapes onto the wall.  I'd suggest starting with the bigger shapes.  Fill in the spaces around the big shapes with smaller ones. You can always erase and start over if you need to! 
4.  Get your paints ready. Use a few different sized brushes to help vary the width of frames.  Here's a little inspiration when planning your designs:  here & here.
6.  Your done! Congrats! Consider hanging some photos or drawing inside your newly painted frames.

Kris Tate Illustrations

These vibrant prints by Kris Tate make me wish I was sitting by a pool, wearing neon shades, sipping on a piña colada... that may partly be due to the fact that I woke up feeling like it should be the weekend, NOT a Thursday (yesterday's July 4th mid-week day-off was such a tease!) Guess I'll just have to sit here in my office, staring at these flamingo prints, picturing myself by that pool... just to get me through these next two days! Oi.

Sinead Leonard's Female Warriors

Feeling inspired by the work of Sinead Leonard today. I just love the use of strong pops of color, texture and layering in her digital collages. She calls these images "[An] army of female warriors... These women have the integrity and power to create and control the world married with the grace and compassion not to destroy it in the process." Love that. via Trendland

Globe Art Lovin'

Ohhh I'm totally digging these decoupaged globes by ImagineNations. These rescued beauties are individually hand-crafted by Wendy Gold who is also known for her work on decoupaged scales and toilet seats... well, the girl sure knows how to get attention!
