For the Designer's Office : Veer Merch

Now that I have a new office, it's a blank slate that needs a little TLC.  I've been perusing around looking for things to make it feel a bit more... me. So I checked out the Veer website to find some nifty decor ideas:

I love this Typographic Mobile.

This wall graphic sets a pretty good vibe for a cool workspace...

Gotta have the doily coasters around for clients...

Dont' forget your own personal garamond mug and type coaster!

Check out this rad Cubic Switch Plate. Oh yeah, bringing 2-D back to our 3-D world. How meta...

And for those SUPER FUN days when we bring our work home... a Type Tray... hope you caught the sarcasm there...

Frame up your work Quickly and inexpensively with Frame Tape... only $17 for 95"! I'm a big fan of taping things on the wall... so why not pretend it's art?

What better way to keep track of your day than with one of these HUGE Typography Calendars? Ok, some of us still haven't caught on to apps yet... but for us old-school kids who still like to write down our appointment times, this is pretty sweet.

Jonathan Adler Pottery

I came across Jonathan Adler's work no too long ago and really fell in love. His online store is full of whimsical pieces one would probably have to save up a little extra cash for- but they're definitely worth it (think christmas, birthday, anniversary- great gift idea...) The simple and chic silhouettes of his pottery add a ton of character to a room... take a look:

Inspiration : Hair Styling

I woke up this morning totally fixated on making my hair perfect... between the battle of my hair and comb, hair unfortunately conquered and I left the house feeling pretty defeated. I'm wearing an adorable beret now- but really, I just wanted to come up with the perfect style that would give me that extra boost of confidence (be it only three people at the office who will actually see me today... but you understand.) So I've decided to dedicate todays post to the lovely hair styles available to us frustrated ladies who need a little inspiration on those days where we're just not feeling love for the locks.

Warm Weather Wear

My mother didn't name me Summer for no reason. I'm loving this weather so so so much. My closet appreciates it as well. All of my sandals and dresses can finally be taken out to see the light of sunny day again... It's 78 perfect degrees in the Valley- another reminder of how great it is to live in California. Here are a few nice little pieces I've found to compliment the weather.

Shwood Sunglasses... so cool. Saw a lot of these at Coachella this year.

Manimal Clothing...I'll take it all.

Folk Shoes... sturdy leather shoes never looked so pretty

Love to the Mothers

We've got a few freebies today- Mother's Day cards I've designed for you to print and personalize yourselves. Moms always appreciate something handmade- so heres an easy way for you to give her just what she wants! Use this 5"x7" card template (DESIGN 1: DOWNLOAD HERE, DESIGN 2: DOWNLOAD HERE), print it out and personalize with your own thumbprint! Enjoy :)

Here's a nice little DIY from Design*Sponge that I thought you might like to give Mom. A lace bowl to fill with all of her favorite goodies:

DOILY BOWL (by Jane Chouten)

Materials
-fabric doily
-masking tape
-interesting pieces of paper
-buttons
-anything else you want to sew on the bowl
-embroidery thread
-a large bowl to use as a template
-paint brush
-
PAVERPOL (online here) or a similar fabric hardener.

1. “Mend” the doily with masking tape and paper (add tape and paper where you like)

2. Stitch the paper (machine stitching is easiest) and masking tape to the doily

3. Sew on everything else (an extra paper, fabric, etc.) making sure both sides look interesting

4. Add some embroidery and a few buttons.

5. Cover the template bowl with plastic foil to protect it, then lay the doily over it.

6. Apply a layer of Paverpol with the paint brush. Correct the bowl form and let it dry for at least a day.

7. When dry, remove the doily bowl from the template bowl and apply a layer of Paverpol on the inside. Dry again for a few days or until the bowl is hard enough.

Inspiration : Black and White by Lotta Agaton

I woke up today and put on my black and white plaid shirt, a red headband, then my black tights and stuck on a gray pair of toms. I realized I'm feeling a little monochromatic today. Alas- inspiration for todays post. Black and white is a very versatile pallette, and can bring a surprising amount warmth to a space or design if utilized correctly... look at stylist Lotta Agaton's work and you'll se what I mean. White walls, furniture, candles... and yet so much character! Makes me re-think painting every room in my house!

Just a little splash of color goes a long way!

Unique LA Shops Five : Feature Week

Today I'm rounding up the last of this weeks featured vendors from Unique LA. It's been amazing getting to meet with some of them and showcase their wonderful work. My goal is to keep hand-crafted items and beautiful artistry alive within our generation. I appreciate the craftsmanship, care, and brilliant ideas that go into the work of independent designers. So this is my little way of saying "thank you" and "keep up the lovely work!"

Unique LA Shops Three : Feature Week

Day three and still so many new shops for you all to discover from Unique LA! A few that I'll be showcasing today did an extraordinary job with their booth displays and really played on the idea of creating a "theme." I noticed that the most popular vendors had a very specific idea in mind when creating an environment for their customers. Just like a store, a booth needs to draw people in to create interest. Of course it helps to have amazing products, but who's gonna know if they never come in to find out? So take a look and see if these shops peak your interest as much as they did mine...

And the winner for "Best in Show" goes to... Bedford Falls Headwear!

Robin Charlotte Jewelry, most creative!

Love these pieces from Nous Savons

Beautiful dramatic pieces from Dust
