Monday, July 19, 2010 at 3:39PM What a weekend! Saturday morning, I worked on my bike and added an awesome basket that I got from Amazon for $12... score! I've been thinking about painting my bike too- but it seems remarkably tedious, so that idea is still up in the air. I also celebrated my roommates 25th Birthday where we played Guitar Hero, ate lotsa pizza, and assembled legos for our ultimate robot-building competition. Unfortunately, my puppy robot did not win {insert sad face}. Saturday evening I watched Saturday Night Fever at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery accompanied by my boyfriend and a lovely candle-lit picnic. The disco party following the flick was probably the best part (aside from John Travolta's hair)- DJ Cut Chemist was there rockin out a classic 70's inspired set where I "boogied" out like my parents. Sunday I bought a BBQ that was on sale at Osh and discovered... I can't BBQ. As soon as I feel I've mastered it i'll try out some recipes from the Little Black Book of Barbeque. Can't wait to show you what I grill up!
So, now to my post. Aside from the awesomeness that was my weekend, it was all experienced through the eyes of a half-blind person- because I scratched my cornia and popped a blood vessel in either eye. Due to this unfortunate mishap, I had to whip out the ol' spectacles that, really, I only wear right after my shower at night. I realized- I've had these glasses for 10 years and I really don't like them. AT ALL. And now I'm stuck wearing them for the week. Now it's time to confront the problem. So, I'm on the hunt for the perfect new specs. I may just end up looking for some old glasses at a thrift store and have the optomotrist swap the lenses out but there are also some great contendors if I don't core the perfect pair that way. Here are some shops that have some spectacular promise! *budum bum.

Kirk Originals- Love the bright, glittery colors and patterns.
L.A. Eyeworks- Retro-inspired wire frames.
Oliver Peoples- Classic, cool designs.
Friday, July 16, 2010 at 5:41PM LOVE is in the air! I've already attended two weddings (soon to be three) just in the past two months... and have experienced such beautiful ceremonies. With the help of wedding blogs and websites, it's so easy to find inspiration for inexpensive and gorgeous DIY Weddings! I came across these adorable images on the website Style Me Pretty and fell in love with this Retro DIY Wedding. The great thing about this website is it can be used to inspire more than just wedding ceremonies (although those are pretty nice to get to do.) You can use these images to help you with all your future event-planning endeavors as well! All photography by David Newkirk.

Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 5:43PM My friend just told me about this wonderful organic food co-op she's been apart of for years called Abundant Harvest Organics. It's an alliance of local family farmers who grow fresh organic produce and put together packages that you pick up once a week. The box is either $20 or $30 dependng on how many people you plan to feed with it. The only catch is: you may have to learn new RECIPES because you don't choose whats in the box- this is because it's filled with whatevers in season! They say trying new foods is good for you anyway... especially if they're healthy! Abundant Harvest located all over Southern California- but there are a ton of other Farmer Co-ops all over the country (Check OUT HERE.) Not only is it good for you the planet, it's also inexpenisive- and I, of all people, appreciate a good deal!

Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 4:59PM Oh my goodness, I've got to get my hands on one of these. The Sampler provides assembled packages that include 5 ($10) or 15 ($25) items handcrafted by independent business owners and crafters! The neat thing is- you don't know exactly what you're going to get, but from the vendor samples in the past- i'm sure it's pretty good! They used to do this once a month but have since changed it to quarterly to ensure the very best submissions and packages for their patrons. There's a limited number of bundles though, so you have to hurry and sign up for your package! If you've got something you would like to sample, you can submit a number of pieces and get a ton of exposure. Sweet!

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 7:37PM Hey Guys! I've been busy workin on my blogs layout the past few days- and although its still under construction~ I'm really liking the changes so far! I didn't want to get too side-tracked though and have so many neat things to share with you over the next few days... so here's a little sneak peak of the shop Bodie and Fou that I thought you would enjoy. These awsome wall stickers really caught my attention and they're something I could actually see myself saving up for! Caged Lover and Ladder Kiss make for a romantic setting, dontcha think?

Friday, July 9, 2010 at 7:02PM I recently finished helping my dad out with the album artwork for his Americana/ Indie Rock band "American Patrol." I'm very pleased with the way it turned out so I thought it would be nice to share it with you guys today! You can check their site out as well (disclaimer: it's still under construction!) at www.myspace.com/americanpatrolrecords. Enjoy!

Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 7:08PM This really sweet DIY idea comes from the blog Indie Bliss. I saw these photos and fell in love with the idea of making your own succulent gardens. I especially like these because they're suuuuper easy to take care of, and for one reason or another I've never been very good at taking care of plants (although I've always loved having them around my home.) In terms of execution, this project is kind of self- explanitory. You just need a bowl, succulents, dirt, rocks and an imagination! Voila, easy and inexpensive indoor plants!
