Hipster Branding
Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 6:28PM Ahh yes, the hipster... I believe we're all familiar with the term by now. Loosely defined as "aficionados of the growing scene, avoiding at all costs mainstream trends in fear of losing coolness." Many designers have found themselves drawn to this sub-culture, thus the hipster aesthetic is reflected in much of our visual world today. Designer Dave Spengeler is "holding up a mirror to the artsy community" by using simple design techniques that we've seen used again and again... and again. These logos, although quite nice, are borderline cliché. However, I'll admit that seeing these brands turned "hipster" tempts me to take a second look... And yes, I would totally check out a Kentucky Fried Chicken with a logo like that! OH, the power of design!

This is awesome! The cliches are spot-on.
Hilarious! I hope the hipsters don't see this post!
I love the design specs. Just pure awesome.
I work for one of these companies... I sure wish we would switch our branding around :) I think these are awesome.
