DIY Braided Necklace

Has it been too long or what!? I've missed this blog terribly as I've been pulled away to serve my duties as a juror... ALAS I am back and ready to share with you wonderful things I come across around the world and the web... So lets get started back up with a fantastic DIY Braided Necklace I found at the blog ECAB (short for Eighteenth Century Agrarian Business... cute.) I love the colors used for this tutorial- turquoise is kind of my obsession right now for jewelry- but you can of course customize it however you would like :) Enjoy!

I have a vintage piece that is really similar to this! I love it, but a word of warning: they can get really heavy after a long night!

I have been looking for a necklace like this for a long time and would never have considered making it but after seeing this I think I'll give it a try. Thanks!!

Do you know somewhere that you can find these beads? I've been looking everywhere, and I can't find any. I'd really like to try my luck at this necklace. Thanks!

You can find these beads everywhere! Walmart has them in the crafting and sewing section (for cheap even), any hobby store, places like Joann's, and especially Hobby Lobby. Good luck! I'm getting myself some beading tips today so I can make this tonight. I can't wait. Thanks for the pics!

Love this necklace, first attempt to make it last night! It turned out pretty well, used periwinkle colored beads. My only struggle was tying the knot on the second side of the string, I couldn't tie it very close to the beads bc the thread is so tiny, so now there's some thread showing! Did you have to use pliers to help you hold the string and tie the knots? How do you do it?!?

Doing just that short part made a world of difference for this necklace. Will try it. Maybe play a little bit with the colors of the beads.

I've tried to make this and the bead tips keep letting the strings slip out so I have to re-bead the strands all over again. Help!
