DIY Doily Lamp

It's so Grandma- but so cute (and easy). This DIY Doily-Lace Lamp was inspired by the beautiful pendant lamp found at reMade USA... except this one costs you the price of a balloon, wallpaper glue & doilies... Instructions found at DOS FAMILY.

How pretty! I love this idea. How great would a bunch of these in all different sizes be!?

That looks so much easier than I would think it was! I didn't think the doilies would be able to keep their shape like that.

Where could I find a light bulb like that?

I absolutely love your post on doily lamps. I saw these previously on Etsy too but couldn't figure out how they did it. I just thought it was too delicate or too intricate to be as simple as a paper mache type product. You've inspired me to make these sometime in the future :)

Freaking. Love. This.... I assume you used mod podge or something similar? I was thinking that using one of those punch balloons (the stripey ones with rubber bands you'd get when you were a kid? you know... these: http://kristenandmatt.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/pub-2.jpg) They blow up pretty large and are much rounder than regular balloons; I might try with one of those... I'm sure you can get them online somewhere! In any case, can't wait to try this.

Just wondering, does anyone know how you would change a lightbulb in it? I bet you the answer is really obvious and I'm just having a blonde moment!

I got so inspired by this lamp, I taught myself how to make doilies, and am now determined to make this lamp by hand. :)

amazing! I'd love to make this one weekend!

Loved this and tried it last weekend. But so so sadly, when we popped the balloon, the structure collapsed even after it had completely dried. Any ideas for a solution? We used wall paper glue and lots of it.
