White Walls : Dilemma or Delight?

I have this strange love-hate relationship with white walls. I'll look at them and think they look chic and understated (Ikea and Urban Outfitters both use white walls in the majority of their photo styling- which I love.) But other times I look at them and see plain, unfinished surfaces- reminding me of all the apartments I grew up in and how much I wanted to go crazy with paint colors. That's why I don't think I'll ever be able to achieve that white wall- rustic minimalist look in my own home. Simply put, I'm drawn to rich colors and love filling my bookshelves and walls with textures... leaving no space wasted.

Design blog A Mad Tea Party, has made me re-think this though, because I absolutely love all the images of rooms that fully embrace color-minimalism. I pulled images that have inspired me to perhaps clean up the color a bit in my own home. These spaces also remind me of Spring (quite appropriate) with white, black & green as a re-occuring palette. Perhaps I'll consider un-coloring my walls in the future (maybe... heh)

I personally love the white wall look because then there's much more possibilities you can go with the rest of the room.
